Inspiration and the underlying narrative to my work come from travel to the Scottish Islands and the interaction between archaeology, geology, history, the sea and Norse mythology.
Details are used from this collaboration to explore surface, form, texture and colour. Mixed media is used to produce a variety of work. Paintings may be watercolour based with the additions of gouache and inks while canvases are layered with texture and colour. Plaster and textiles are used to form pages-the basis for both singular pieces and bookwork.
Sketchbooks are essential for research, experimentation and exploration of the processes involved and have become artworks in themselves.
