I graduated from Cardiff Art College with a BA Hons Degree in 3D Design – Ceramics in 1990 and have been involved in Ceramics ever since. I worked at Prinknash Pottery and then taught adult pottery classes at Gloucestershire College. I continue to teach brain injury survivors at Headway. Alongside all of this, I have made my own work from my studio at home. Since 2008 I have been making and selling my work full-time through various galleries, museums, arts and crafts events, shops and online.
I am currently working in white earthenware clay and coloured slips. I use press-moulding and hand modelling techniques to make my pieces before decorating. I hand draw all my designs through the layer of coloured slips using scraffito. My inspiration comes from patterns and images on textiles, folk and Scandinavian art, naïve drawings and ceramics from ancient cultures and traditional slipware. I aim to explore more contemporary images and colour palettes and am focusing on themes around trees, seasons and nature.
