Whilst born and raised in Dumfries and Galloway, I left Scotland in 1991 and spent the next 27 years living in Hungary, most recently in the heart of the picturesque artists’ town of Szentendre. I studied Art and Design at college in Glasgow and since then have worked as a graphic designer in publishing and advertising in both Scotland and Hungary. This multi-cultural experience has given me a broad understanding of graphics from diverse perspectives and also influences my artwork. I returned to Dumfries in 2018 to set up a graphic design studio and to continue creating art.
My art reflects a sensitivity to composition and colour and can be seen as a natural complement to my career as a designer. Freed from the constraints of digital layout, I have transferred my knowledge of balance and form to different media and am excited to be working spontaneously with raw materials, combining colours and textures. I experiment with fluid densities and dynamics, enabling the artwork to develop a natural form and aesthetic.
Along with my partner at Falu Studios, we produce original abstract artwork in mixed media, resin, ink and wood with many of our boards and frames designed and built in-house, exploring different framing and mounting techniques to best compliment
