The Whitehouse welcomes in the Autumn with a mixed exhibition of work from a range of fine artists and makers.
The preview opening is on Saturday 8th September, doors will open from 11am and all are welcome. There will be complementary fizz and chocolates.
New artists to the gallery include Jackie Gardner and Lindsay J Grime.
Jackie Gardiner is a contemporary landscape and seascape artist. She studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee and has since enjoyed a thirty year career as a full time artist. Jackie has hosted several one-woman shows throughout her career, and she regularly exhibits in group shows throughout the UK and overseas. She works mostly in oils and experimental media for surface textures, and is greatly inspired by the sea and open spaces.
Edinburgh College of Art graduate Lindsay Grime has worked as an illustrator since graduating, but has continued creating her artwork which has been more recently focused towards painting. Her highly colourful figurative paintings depict curious, dreamlike scenes, often featuring wild and joyful female figures. The characters in her painted world are untethered, expressing a certain fantastical connection to the natural world, a longing for freedom and delight.
We look forward to welcoming back new work from some fantastic fine artists who we have represented over the years. This exhibition focuses predominantly on landscape and still life work in an interesting range of medium and style, with work by Alison Dickson, James Somerville, Jen Collee, Kelly Stewart, Kittie Jones, Linda Park (featured image), Michael Batey, Moy Mackay, Patricia Sadler, Peter Foyle, Sheila Fowler and Stewart Morrison.
As always, there will be an interesting mix of 3d and craft work for this exhibition.
We welcome new sculptor to the gallery, Ean Dawbarn, with a collection of his recycled metal creatures. Local potter’s Fitch & McAndrew will be giving us a new collection of their wood fired slipware. We also look forward to exhibiting jewellery by Heather Andrews & Melissa James, ceramic sculpture by Karen James & Urpu Sellar, Wood sculpture by Michael Lythgoe and a new re-upholstered chair by Rustique Interiors.
