Lucy Hadley will be based upstairs over the Spring Fling weekend. Spring Fling is regarded as Scotland’s Premier Art & Craft Open Studios Event, and is held across Dumfries and Galloway over the weekend of 26-28 May.
Lucy’s creative practice is largely influenced by her experiences of exploring wild landscapes by foot or bicycle and her love of wildlife. She works quickly in the field to capture memories of her adventures with a few lines of ink in a sketchbook. These sketches form the foundation of Lucy’s studio work where her drawings and photos are used as inspiration for her illustrations.
“I’m really happy to be taking part in Spring Fling again this year and am really looking forward to being in Kirkcudbright. The focus of my work for this year’s event is of the region I live, Dumfries and Galloway. It’s been great exploring more of the region with my sketchbooks, but there’s still so many more places to draw here which is an exciting prospect!” says Lucy.
Lucy studied Graphic Design and Illustration as a mature student at the University of Cumbria and graduated in 2015 with a first class honours degree.
Lucy will be at the Whitehouse Gallery from 10-5.30pm Saturday 26th, Sunday 27th and Monday 28th May 2018. There will be a preview on the Friday night from 6pm to 8pm with an informal chat by Lucy about her work. Everyone is welcome.
