Forthcoming Exhibition

Kate Bentley SWA

GOLDEN LIGHT

As the nights start to draw in, we mark the change of seasons with our Autumn exhibition ‘Golden Light’.

The exhibition will go live online on Thursday 8th September, then doors will open for the official preview on Saturday 10th September, from 11am to 5pm. All are welcome to attend.

The exhibition then continues on until the 29th October, Mon-Sat 10am – 4pm.

We welcome the return of award winning Scottish landscape artist Rosanne Barr, with some of her beautiful and atmospheric paintings.  Light is an important factor in Rosanne’s work, and she often captures sunsets and that perfect ‘golden light’ in her scenes.  Alongside Rosanne, we see the return of some wonderful artists including Andy Cross, Dominique Cameron, Kate Bentley SWA,  Madeleine Gardiner, Margaret Evans, Ross Fulton, Sarah Anderson and Sarah Moffat, each delivering striking new collections of landscapes in the artist’ own unique style, in a range of medium including charcoal, acrylic, pastels, gouache and oils.

Two new artists to the gallery are Heather Burton and Louise Body.  Heather Burton is from Yorkshire, but has been visiting Scotland all her life, and often finds inspiration for her paintings from the back of a motorbike.   She loves Scotland in all conditions, ‘the impact the weather has on the moods and atmosphere of the lochs and mountains is extraordinary and inspires much of my work’. Louise Body is an artist based on the south coast of England.  Having lived by the sea for most of her life, she is drawn to this in her work.  ‘I paint from memory, creating places through a balance between representational and abstract forms, as if combining the imprint of a photograph in your mind with the abstracted thoughts and feelings of  a place’.

Still life works will be exhibited by Andy Cross, Doreen Davis and Gillian Henshaw, with Figures by Garry Harper and June Bell and Scottish Cityscapes by Kelly Stewart.

We also welcome new collections of glass by Amanda Simmons and Gregg Anston Race, Ceramics by Andrew Adair, Georgie Gardiner, Heather Armstrong and Seadrift Pottery, Sculpture by Jennifer Watt, Silversmith work by Peter Rowland, Artist Books by Frances Law, Jewellery by Sheana M Stephen DA, Textiles by Jo Gallant and more.
