Kate Bentley RI – In the Studio

We love it when we get the opportunity to visit artists in their studios, something we do often with Kate Bentley. It’s always so exciting to see what the artist is working on, and so interesting to hear the stories and processes behind each painting, which means we can then pass this onto customers. We also select work for exhibitions, which isn’t always easy given the choices, I very often feel like a kid in a sweet shop!

Kate originally trained as a Sculptor and Theatre Designer. In 1999 she became a professional painter. Originally from the Lake District she is now based on the Solway coast in South west Scotland.

She is a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour and the  Society of Women Artists and her work is held in both private and public collections.

This latest visit was to select new work for our forthcoming Summer Exhibition, which opens on 1st July. However, this also gave us a chance to have a chat about a solo show in our upstairs room in the Autumn, which we are very excited about. More will be announced in the months ahead.

You can view what we have in the gallery by Kate Bentley currently here.
