‘I was very inspired last summer when I took part in an abstract painting course in the beautiful village of Ullapool where I challenged myself to step into exploring new colour palettes and more diverse mark making.
I start with a thin layer of paint which is applied to the canvas with scrapers, palette knives or brushes and left to dry before other layers are added and then scraped back. Lines are scratched into the surface with the palette knife, textured shapes are highlighted and solid blocks of colour are painted in for contrast.’
My paintings relate to themes of the natural world, the seasons and the landscape.’ (2024)
