Gregg Anston-Race

I am a glass artist working in kiln formed and fused glass.

I was born in Truro, Cornwall and have lived in the county all my life, growing up on the wild and dramatic coast of North Cornwall.

I studied Art and Design and went on to work in several art related jobs which was where I discovered a passion for glass, in 2005 I set up my own glass studio just across the border from my Cornish home, in the small Devon market town of Holsworthy.

I am a mainly self taught glass artist who loves experimenting with the glass and testing out new ideas and techniques, some of these are unique to my work, such as the textured look in the ‘Oblivion’ vessel and the metallic copper look in the ‘Quantum’ vessel.

I spent my childhood exploring the countryside around my home and searching for specimens of minerals in old mine workings. It is a childhood that has strongly influenced my work and I try to reflect the rich clear colours of the Cornish landscape and the reactions and effects of different minerals on each other and the organic forms and rock formations found along the coast of this landscape in the work I produce.
