Lesley Smith

Lesley studied Printed Textiles at Glasgow School of Art in the late 1980’s and after graduating she worked in London where she designed fashion and furnishing fabrics for the European and Japanese market. Later she returned to Glasgow and worked freelance on a variety of design projects whilst continuing to exhibit her textile design work across Europe and in the USA.

After getting married Lesley lived abroad for many years and on her return to the U.K, she settled in Bristol. Here she pursued a career in Primary Education, teaching infants and primary aged children. Her quirky illustrative drawings entertained classrooms of children on many wet afternoons.

Recently, Lesley moved back to Scotland and has relocated to Kirkcudbright to further pursue her artistic ambitions.

Lesley’s artwork is firmly rooted in her love of bold graphics, simplified shapes  and sense of fun. Her textiles and illustration work has been featured in many magazines and National newspapers including:

Elle Decoration, International Textiles Magazine, Drapers Record, Architectural Review, The Independent and The Herald.
