Linda Lewin

Linda Lewin is an artist-jeweller and sculptor who has been working from her studio in the beautiful Scottish Borders for more than twenty years. She graduated from the Silversmithing and Jewellery department, Sheffield College Of Art in 1976.

It was her love of drawing which  took her to art school and her particular interest and investigations into line, proportion and the effect of light on surfaces is evident in all of her work.

Her professional practise has been the design and making of small scale metalworks and jewellery in precious metals. She regards jewellery as sculpture in miniature and is a master of techniques particularly as practised by ancient goldsmiths. All of her pieces are handmade with the simplest of traditional tools and respect for the qualities of the materials she works with.

Her jewellery in silver and gold is made to be worn everyday. It is never pretentious but always bold and eye catching and well fitted to the body. She enjoys working closely with clients on commissions.

Her equestrian sculptures are based on hands on experience and time spent working with horses which she finds endlessly fascinating. These expressive wire sculptures are her unique way of resolving drawings in three dimensions. The black iron wire she uses to make figurative and equestrian pieces was originally a bi-product of her jewellery making but in this work it has been elevated to become an expressive material in its own right. It is particularly well suited to capturing those fleeting moments of balance within movement which are in essence, the spirit of ‘horse’.

We are sorry, we do not currently have any Linda Lewin products for sale.
