Liz Myhill RSW

Liz Myhill RSW is a Scottish artist whose observational works span a wide range of subject matter, gathered through working directly from life. The act of walking, watching and recording numerous facets, whether fleeting or through lengthy study, allow her to gain a connection and sense of place. Although often an end in themselves, these field works are also developed into paintings and printmaking.

With her roots in the Scottish Hebrides, those islands and other wild places of Scotland continue to fascinate and provide a wealth of inspiration. However, pursuit of creative development and a sense of adventure have led to a number of expeditions further afield. Residencies have afforded the possibility for concentrated periods of travel and making new works which continue to inform ongoing practice. Beginning close to home with a week-long residency on the Isle of Lewis in 2008, she has since worked in India, Cuba, Central America, South America and the USA, sometimes for periods of several months.

Liz exhibits her work throughout the UK, regularly showing with societies such as the Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour and Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts. She has received a number of awards including the RSW Winsor and Newton Award, RGI David Cargill Award, Elizabeth Greenshield Foundation grant and SWLA John Busby Seabird Drawing Course Award. In 2017 she was elected as a professional member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour.
