Sheila Rodger
Sheila Rodger’s work is heavily influenced by the natural environment of the West Coast of Scotland, having been born and raised in Glasgow. She now spends most of her working life teaching in London, but the beauty of the Scottish landscape still influences her greatly.
Although originally a landscape painter, over the last 10 years she has focused on Collagraph Printmaking.
‘My subject is the natural world and our connection to it. It is important to me to have spent time in each landscape to gain a sense of being within that place, of connecting directly with it.
Through drawing and photograph taken, I will then work on creating blocks for printing. For this I use mountboard, cutting away and adding to the surfaces to create the desired results. Each print is then inked up and printed on my press.
I hope when people experience my work they will also feel that connection with the amazing world around us and it will remind them to slow down and connect.’
