Tricia was born in Dumfries and Galloway, but left in 1991 and spent the next 27 years living in Hungary working as a graphic designer in publishing and advertising whilst painting in her spare time. She returned to Scotland in 2018 and established Falu Studios which now offers framing services from its own gallery on the outskirts of Dumfries.
Tricia’s art reflects a sensitivity to composition and colour and can be seen as a natural complement to her 30 year career as a graphic designer. Freed from the constraints of digital layout, she has transferred her knowledge of colour, balance and form to raw materials, working mainly in acrylics on board.
She takes inspiration from the changing light, textures, colours and forms of her surrounding landscape and her paintings reveal her own interpretation and experience.
Her paintings tend to evolve through a layered process revealing underlying subtle colours and textures which allows the painting to develop in often unexpected and contrasting directions, finishing in a semi abstract work.
