Wendy Haslam

I trained at the North East Wales Institute and worked afterwards as an illustrator, so it is no coincidence that I am still trying to tell a story with my work. My ideas come out of my squirrelling away found objects, overheard conversations, odd family traditions, or an unusual name. Having been a bit of a wanderer, I now live happily in a small Cumbrian market town which is just big enough to have shops full of old treasures and to overhear some interesting conversations.

I paint mainly in oil or acrylic although a recent return to printmaking has given me a completely new way of telling my stories. The always unexpected results make it an exciting and much more immediate way of working.
