Fifteen Years

This year marks a very special anniversary for The Whitehouse Gallery in Kirkcudbright, celebrating fifteen years in business. To commemorate this milestone, the gallery is delighted to be hosting a mixed exhibition of Artists & Makers, with a spotlight shining on featured artist Gordon Wilson.

The exhibition preview opening will be on Saturday 22nd June, doors will open from 11am. Please come along and enjoy the exhibition with complementary chocolates and beverages.

Gordon has been exhibiting with the Whitehouse Gallery since 2011, and continues to be one of the galleries most successful artists.  Gordon is in high demand and now sells out solo exhibitions, as well as exhibiting in prestigious exhibitions in leading art galleries throughout the UK, Ireland and the USA.

Gordon, a Glasgow School of Art graduate, has worked in the art industry for many years as a designer, picture framer and artist. He now paints full time from his studio in Milngavie, Glasgow. Gordon’s subject matter ranges from quirky portraiture to emotive land and seascapes, and his deep love of the west coast of Scotland shines through his evocative work. Gordon paints from the heart; his expressive oil paintings reflect the ever changing moods of both the countryside and the artist himself. His much loved paintings of old ladies (biddies), belted galloway’s and characterful Clyde ‘puffers’ allow him to create amusing narratives in his paintings.

The only new artist to the gallery for this exhibition is Clare Flinn. As a painter, Claire’s main concerns are colour, light, texture and surface marks, and these remain constant  whatever her subject matter, which varies between portraiture, landscape and still life.

We very much look forward to welcoming back Rosanne Barr, Jen Collee, Emma Davis RSW PAI, Jackie Gardiner, Moy Mackay, Suzan Malcolm PPAI HPAI, Fiona Millar, Margaret S Milligan, Fiona Sturrock &  Cameron Watt. This selection of wonderful artists reflects the diverse range of styles we show in the gallery, with a predominant mix of land and seascapes as well as still life work.

New collections of glass will also be on display by Stuart Akroyd; Ceramics by Denise Brown,  Goodwin Jones, Helen Martin, Tregear Pottery & Emily Rowley; Jewellery by Eileen MacAlister; Driftwood art by Seth Draper; Handpainted wooden flower boxes by Betsy & Els.  There will also be work by ongoing artists and makers, spread over two floors.

We are sorry, we do not currently have any Fifteen Years products for sale.
