Tall Jug with Curled Handles

This jug is inspired by the idea of the water carrier, or from the latin, Aquarius. The clay is in itself water and earth, as we are a body of water.

They were thrown on the wheel in a white clay body, inspired by forms from the ancient world. I experimented with flowing shapes to the lip edge and pulled, then twisted or curled the handles.

The surfaces are glazed with a layering of smooth blue stone like glazes, cascading. Inside, a creamy white glaze does some spectacular things where it meets the blue.

They are each unique fully  functional as jugs or vases.
