About the Artist
Artist Statement:
‘I studied Fine Art, Printmaking and Textiles before becoming a full-time painter. Nature and landscape have always been inspirational, particularly the Scottish coast and it’s islands. Watercolour was the perfect medium to capture the changing light and moody atmosphere of this landscape. My memory is filled with images from painting in these intriguing places, and although I now work mainly from my imagination, memory still plays an important part.
Most of my time is spent in the studio now, drawing upon these captured images, in an effort to create something truly original. I often begin with a line, adding marks and colour, trying to create a kind of balanced cohesive pattern. It doesn’t always work, but when it does, it is exhilarating. I don’t always know where it will lead, and of course this is part of the excitement.’
