About the Artist
Joshua Miles is a landscape artist/printmaker who specialises in reduction linocuts. His main inspiration for his work comes from the impressionists style of mark making and the selective rolling of the Japanese woodcuts.
Joshua was born in South Africa and studied fine arts at the University of Cape Town where he won best student prize in his final years. He has enjoyed a full and successful career as a full time artist in his home country, mainly doing solo exhibitions in the past few years which gained
him much publicity.
Now Joshua has moved to Kirkcudbright with his Scottish wife and son. He is drawn to the Artist’ Town for the same reason as many artists before him, for the light. Light moving over the landscape is what catches his eye and has a great influence on his work.
