About the Artist
Artist Statement: Drawing is the essence of my work, as well as mark making. The quality of the line is extremely important. I draw and paint a range of different subject matter but one of my favourites is boats. The older and rustier the better, like the old fishing boats at Kirkcudbright harbour. For me boats have a similar structural and architectural element of cityscapes however with an organic line that I often crave when drawing purely cityscapes.
Aside from the boats at Kirkcudbright harbour I’m also drawn to the coastline, it’s rocky shores and flat open space. I have chosen the medium of screenprint monotypes to represent my interpretation of the coastline. The unique painterly look and feel of the medium best closely resembled what I was searching for.
