Artist Statement I’m driven to paint fleeting moments in people’s lives that are sometimes missed or taken for granted. My hope is to capture a point in time that creates questions, what came before and what will come next.
I often become so involved in the narrative that I find myself attached to the personalities. Sometimes I’m emotionally exhausted once the painting is complete. Working from photographs in soft pastel, I usually start with an underpainting and build from there.
I mainly work in soft pastels although I enjoy experimenting with other mediums to produce loose, abstract works.
