The use of solid Oak timber sets a timeless traditional feel to the piece, which is then played
against the intense coloured diaper type front panel, with references to Mediaeval ornament. In
order to get the fine detail cut into the panel, a timber composite board is used, and then hand
painted in my own recipe of paint. These colours are then echoed in the tiles on the sides of the
I am currently working on a family of 3 different designs of clock, with two distinct colour themes.
One theme is as you see here, with the natural Oak, and a variety of colour schemes, referencing
artists like Vasareley, Itten, and Erte’s costume design.
The second colour theme is in monochrome black, white, grey, with the addition of a textured
finish, creating a visually stark drama.
