Orla Stevens is a Scottish artist, whose painting and textile practice responds to multisensory experience of place.
Translating emotional, physical, visual and aural experiences of Scottish land, sea and soundscape into abstracted colours, textures and marks. Orla’s work researches local landscape of the Trossachs National Park where her studio is based, and further afield; delving into the untamed rhythms from the West Coast, Hebrides and North Atlantic. Orla frequently explores these remote locations with wild camping inspiration trips.
Trained in printed textiles and embroidery at Edinburgh College of Art, Orla discovered her love for expressive mark-making, graduating in 2018 with a first class honours. Since, Orla has been developing her visual art practice, exploring conversation between painting and printing processes, exhibiting work across Scotland.
