About the Artist
This recent body of work explores the growth, life and colour of a cut flower garden, and the ceremony of gathering and displaying these flowers. From the new growth the spring brings, to filling the home with jugs of bright blooms, the works become a conversation of marks, colour and surfaces while creating visual connections with the interior and exterior spaces.
I am a Painter living and working in East Lothian, Scotland. I studied Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 2008 and since then have continued to explore my fascination of colour. Painting allows me the immediacy of visual connection – the excitement of when one colour, placed by the next, brings the former alive.
My recent focus explores the wonders of the garden landscape, and it is from my studio garden that I lose myself in the wonder of floral forms.
Alongside my painting life, I am the Principle Tutor and Co-Founder of Paintbox School of Art, an independent Art School in the coastal village of Cockenzie. My deep passion for teaching is of huge inspiration to my practice, and one cannot exist without the other
