‘Flowers are my passion, as are the small, bright-eyed, joyful birds that have recently found their way into my paintings. Colour defines my work. In my compositions, I like to play with elements of the observed, imagined and remembered.’
Suzan Malcolm graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1980, and has since spent time as a freelance botanical artist, and an associate lecturer in Art Education at the University of the West of Scotland, as well as Head of Art and Design at Wellington School in Ayr. Suzan became a full time painter in 2009.
Although trained in ceramics and tapestry, Suzan works principally in oils, watercolour and mixed media.
Suzan has received numerous awards, including The Honorary Diploma of Paisley Art Institute (HPAI) in 2013. Suzan has exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions over the years.
