About the Artist
Sustainability has been at the very heart of my work for over 20 years.
For the last 5 years I have concentrated on creating my upcycled bird sculptures. My birds are hand crafted using reclaimed, found and vintage materials including cutlery, stained glass and driftwood. The cutlery I use is all EPNS or silver plated, all found at flea fairs and charity shops. I hammer, cut and bend the pieces to create the shapes I need and then solder them together.
I often use stained glass in my work. This is also reclaimed – either from old broken panels or off cuts from other maker’s work. This is hand cut and shaped to create flowers and leaves to add
to my pieces.
To mount my birds I like to use driftwood whenever I can and living by the Coast enables me to spend happy hours scavenging on the beach.
