Scotland: For A’ That

Our new photography exhibition is now open.  We wanted to start 2018 with something really special, so we decided to do something that really celebrates Scotland.  We chose the medium of photography because we are big believers that it will continue to grow in it’s influence on the art world.

Being slightly out of the way here in Dumfries & Galloway, we only occasionally get the big photography names – last years Don McCullin exhibition in Dumfries was a cause for huge celebration in the Dumfries & Galloway photography and art world.  So we wanted to continue that momentum and bring in some really strong names.  We didn’t want to be twee or cliched either (you don’t go to Paris and photograph the Eiffel Tower).  We wanted an honest portrayal of Scotland.

So we were delighted when we confirmed our line up

Ann M Holmes
Colin McPherson
David Moses
Giles Atkinson
Jeremy Sutton-Hibbert
Leeming & Paterson
Phil McMenemy
Sarah Amy Fishlock
Sophie Gerrard

The result is a mix of documentary and landscape photography by some of the best visual storytellers working today.  We’re pretty confident that this show is the most important photography exhibit in the country right now.

We had such great feedback from the opening, everybody was blown away judging by the comments book “brilliant selection”, “sense of place”, “very atmospheric”, “love it”.

This exhibition runs until March 10 2018, less than 4 weeks away.  Make sure you don’t miss it.
