Winter Exhibition

The Whitehouse Gallery in Kirkcudbright welcomes brand new collections this Winter, from a wide and varied selection of artists & makers. This includes paintings, printmaking, textile art, mixed media, ceramics, glass, sculpture, jewellery & much more.

Although not a defining theme, there is also a nod to the colour blue throughout.

Landscape paintings will be on display by Erraid Gaskell, Kate Bentley RI SWA, Louise O’Hara and Sarah Anderson. These will range from icy winter tones to bright and colourful landscapes.

Kate Bentley will also be exhibiting some of her captivating interior paintings.

Kirkcudbright based Joshua Miles is delivering a collection of his linocuts and monotypes for this exhibition. We will also be receiving a collection of original prints from Sarah Keast.

Anne Skinner RSW will also return with a mix of both paintings and screenprints, embracing the cold and blues of winter in her work beautifully. Hugh Bryden is also delivering a mix of small original paintings and prints.

New figurative pieces will be on display from returning artists Cecilia Cardiff, Garry Harper and June Bell.  We also welcome new artist to the gallery Corine Ko, who will be unveiling a new collection of her mixed media work which celebrates women and femininity, combining original ink, acrylic, paper collage and photography.

Moy Mackay delivers a new collection of her merino fibre ‘paintings’ in this exhibition.  Morag Lloyds has also created a lovely collection of small textile artworks.

As usual at this time of year, there will be an interesting mix of craft, from larger, special centrepieces down to smaller, more affordable items which would make ideal gifts for Christmas.  Everything in the gallery is handmade and original.

Makers include Amanda Simmons with a new collection of her glass vessels;  Hand Rendered Glass by Katy Quinn; Clare Dawdry, Rowena Gilbert, Sandie Cosens, Sarah Lawson, Sarah Piper and Steve Smith with new collections of Ceramics:  Ceramic sculpture by Karen Lainson, Sally Dunham and Jack Durling; Mosaics by Morag Archer; Textiles by Jo Gallant; Jewellery by Sheena McMaster.  Alongside these new collection we have ongoing collections from a wide range of makers, so there really should be something for everyone.
