About the Artist
Lewis MacKenzie (b. 1981) is a contemporary impressionist painter based near Glasgow in Scotland.
Over the past few years, Lewis has gained significant recognition, winning the 2023 Scottish Prize for Fine Art (Murray & McGregor Prize) and being shortlisted for the Scottish Landscape Awards. He was featured on Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year and exhibited with institutions like the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the Royal Glasgow Institute. In 2025, he co-led a plein air retreat on the Solway Coast and serves as a mentor in the Scottish Contemporary Collective, supporting emerging artists.
His work is influenced by masters like Sargent and Velázquez, and spans portraiture, landscape, and still life.
